It is important because ALL victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, gender mutilation, etc. should be protected. Who is someone to play “God” effectively make the decision who should be protected and who should not? When the HOUSE (the greater majority of the Representatives being Republican) tried to slip in their Bill for VAWA to pass the VAWA, it was done so in a seemingly deceitful manner.

The very definition of domestic violence purports that it is not specific to any race, religion, education, gender, society status, etc. With the House Bill, they are effectively adding to that definition “excepting for Native American, LGBT, and Immigrant communities”. Why should any victim be excluded?

See the poem that I wrote to the Representatives, called “Late at Night…Dear House”, emphasizing the need for passage of VAWA with the consideration of protection for all victims, not just the few — ((Take some time, after you sign this petition, so that you can return to the site with the poem and add comments and ask questions. 🙂 ))

Too, the model for the future iVAWA (International VAWA) is based upon the original model of the VAWA that has been in place in the United States for 18 years now (in 2012). In an effort for setting a good example for global peace, we need to set a good example of being non-discriminatory.

Let’s get this passed quickly so it’ll be the least of our worries… and we will not have to worry about which victim will be helped and which will not!!

Please sign the Petition for Change today The President of the United States: Pass VAWA without the House Bill version and then pass it on to others.
